Sustainability

The Verbier Bike Festival is committed to improve its sustainability across all areas of the event. Each year we aim to improve and reduce our impact on the environment.

So we sat down to answer these 2 (not so) simple question:

QUESTION 1

1 – Where does VBF have the most impact?
  • Participants’ mobility
  • Electricity to charge e-bikes
  • F&B
    • From the different activities
    • Sold in the festival village
    • Given to staff
  • Waste management

QUESTION 2

2 – What we can do?

  • F&B
    • Local & Seasonal First: We prioritize local and seasonal products—95% of the food served at our food stations come from Valais or elsewhere in Switzerland.
    • Minimal Packaging: We avoid single-use packaging as much as possible. Most food is delivered in bulk, with the exception of cereal bars, cheese, and sausage (which require air-tight packaging for hygiene).
    • Reusable Over Disposable: In partnership with Papival, we use only reusable cutlery throughout the village and at all food stations, reducing single-use waste.
    • Always a Veggie Option: A vegetarian choice is available at every meal—inclusivity and sustainability on every plate!

PROGRAM FOR 2024
SOON

  • Electricity to charge e-bikes
    • Thanks to our partner Altis, the electricity used both in the festival village in Verbier and in Le Châble (= where the e-bikes are charged up) is ‘GreenElec’ certified, ensuring it is sourced entirely from 100% renewable and locally-sourced energy.

  •

  • Waste management
    • Verbier Green: This locally based company is taking care of recycling all the trash coming from
      • The festival villages
      • The mountain food-stops and other festival booths
      • The festival offices
